Merino Motor Inn — 2025 Year in Review
Celebrating Growth, Comfort & Community
This year has been one of meaningful transformation for the Merino Motor Inn in St George. Since taking the reins in mid-2024, owners Jono and Tam have worked with passion and purpose to elevate the guest experience while preserving the warm, country charm that makes the Merino a favourite in the Balonne Shire.
⭐ 1. Enhanced Guest Comfort
Ensuring guests feel relaxed and rejuvenated has been a top priority:
- New luxurious pillow-top beds were installed across the property, delivering superior sleep comfort and earning wonderful feedback from travellers.
- Huge OLED “Safe Casting” TVs were added to every room, offering rich entertainment with secure streaming from guests’ own devices.
- Super-fast Wi-Fi was activated property-wide, supporting seamless streaming, work calls, and connectivity for all guests.
These upgrades have not only modernised the stay experience but also helped the Inn stand out in reviews and guest feedback throughout the year.
🍽️ 2. Dining Experience Revitalised
The Merino Restaurant received an exciting new menu launch featuring fresh flavours, local produce and hearty favourites. Designed to appeal to both travellers and locals, the updated offerings have strengthened the Inn’s role as a community gathering place.
🔥 3. New Spaces for Guests to Connect
This year saw the creation of inviting communal spaces:
- A brand-new fire pit area was installed, encouraging guests to relax, connect and share stories under the stars — a perfect addition to the country experience.
- The pool area was refreshed with new surfacing, improving both aesthetics and safety for guests enjoying summer swims.
🧺 4. Practical Amenities for Real Travel Needs
Acknowledging the needs of families, long-haul travellers and workers on extended stays, Merino Motor Inn introduced:
- A commercial-grade Speed Queen washer and dryer, delivering efficient, reliable laundry services for guests’ convenience.
These thoughtful additions have enhanced comfort and practicality for diverse guest profiles.
🤝 5. Hospitality with Heart
Throughout the year, Jono and Tam have emphasised personalised service and genuine country hospitality — often noted in guest reviews as a highlight of their stay. Their vision of making the Merino “a home away from home” resonates in every staff interaction and facility upgrade.
Looking Ahead
